The Canadian Wood Products division is comprised of three operating regions: Fort St. James in Northern British Columbia, and Arrow Lakes and Boundary Timber in Southern British Columbia. Within those regions, Pope & Talbot operates four sawmills: Fort St. James, Castlegar, Midway and Grand Forks. The lumber grading at these mills follows the standards of the Council of Forest Industries(COFI).

Fort St. James is Pope & Talbot's largest sawmill, producing SPF lumber for the US, Canadian, and Japanese markets. The Castlegar mill offers a broad mix of Western Canadian species in wide widths and lengths up to 24 feet. The Grand Forks and Midway mills are significant producers of machine stress rated (MSR) lumber. Our Canadian mills manufacture lumber from several timber species including spruce/pine/fir (SPF), hem-fir, Douglas fir, western cedar, and others, which are used in housing construction and renovation.
