Maximizing product recovery has been an ongoing priority in the stewardship of our resources. Over the years, we have managed to secure more product (lumber) from less wood, and to virtually eliminate wood waste. Now, less than half of one percent of the residual fiber from each log is discarded. The rest of the fiber is turned into chips and sawdust for pulp and fuel. Residual sawdust and wood chips are a significant source of fiber for our pulp mills. Our pulp facilities are elemental chlorine free and comply with, or exceed, all currently applicable environmental regulations and measures - including regulations of the British Columbia Ministry of Water, Land and Air Protection as well as all applicable U.S. federal and state regulations. |
